   political figure
   Born in Saint-Sauveur-Lendelin, Normandy, Charles-François Lebrun served before the revolution of 1789 as inspector of Crown domains and as secretary to rené de maupeou. A member of the Council of Five Hundred, he was chosen by Napoléon Bonaparte as the third consul after the coup d'état of 18 Brumaire Year VIII (November 9, 1799). He created the Government Accounting office (Cour des comptes) and was named in 1810 lieutenant general in Holland, then governor-general. Made duke of Plaisance, Lebrun was named grand master of the university of France by napoléon I during the hundred days.
